چکیده

A pipeline inspection gauge (PIG) is routinely passed throughout the long-distance oil and gas pipelines by operators to clean pipeline. Sealing performance a significant evaluation index for PIG's safety operation. To comprehensively evaluate seal performance, nonlinear finite element models were developed, parametric analysis was conducted in this study. The accuracy of simulation model validated from numerical experimental results reported literature. show that comparing with pigging straight pipes, sealing rubber cups PIGs can be more easily detached pipe wall when passing through elbows, causing smaller areas. For typical elbow (with curvature radius equals six times diameter) widely used industry, minimum area cup only 8.07% during common operation conditions. ability obviously enhanced increasing small elbow. Elbow slightly affects cup's behavior over pipe's outer diameter. An increment interference increase contact between wall, blockage risk will reduced due good sufficient driving force. required 4% under most condition; is, thickness, fluid pressure difference, friction coefficient are 35 mm, 0.02 MPa, 0.3, respectively. proper decrease thickness reduce stiffness cups, indicating prone deformation. Thus, an differential PIG enhance separated wall. large risky safe region coefficient. In engineering practice, measures should taken Above all, obtained study provide reference structural design PIGs.

Diagnostically Lossless Compression of Pipeline Inspection Data

All pipelines are subject to corrosion and require inspection in accordance with regulatory requirements to ensure human safety. Intelligent Pipeline Inspection Gauges (PIGs) as shown in Figure 1 have provided reliable on-line inspection of pipelines for many years, supplying operators with detailed information about pipeline condition. The average transmission pipe length is 300km and the aver...

Buried Gas Pipeline Inspection with EMAT's

The electroma.gnetic, noncontact transducer (EMAT) is particularly well suited to ultrasonic inspec~ tion problems where it is difficult or impossible to couple the sound into the object being tested ~ through a liquid or grease layer. For inspecting buried natural gas pipelines, the inspection process must be carried out by a self contained instrument package blown through the pipe by the gas ...

Pipeline Inspection and Borewell Rescue Robot

The aim of this paper is to give an innovative concept to handle the bore well rescue operations without human intervention and to inspect any type of leakage in the pipe. Normal operation of child rescue is done by using big machines with large manpower involvement. It takes more time to rescue a child from the bore well and to check any kind of irregularities in pipe. Wheeled leg mechanism is...
